Shri Robinder Ohri
1939 — 2024
The Robinder Ohri Memorial Foundation (ROMF) was established in October 2024 to honour the life and legacy of Shri Robinder Ohri.
Born in Abohar, Rajasthan, Shri Ohri came from a lineage of public service and leadership. After completing his education at Delhi University, including a Master’s in History from St. Stephen’s College, he joined the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in 1962.
Over the course of an extraordinary career spanning nearly six decades, he served the nation across military, intelligence, diplomatic and leadership assignments. His journey included active service during the 1965 and 1971 wars, sensitive assignments with the Cabinet Secretariat (R&AW), and diplomatic postings in Sri Lanka, Germany and Nepal.
His distinguished public service culminated in his appointment as Director General of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
A Life Beyond Service
Following his retirement from public service, Shri Ohri continued to contribute through advisory, research and writing engagements. He advised leading organisations including McKinsey and Group 4 Securitas, while remaining engaged with research, thought leadership and writing.
For Shri Ohri, service was not simply a profession. It was a way of life.

The People Carrying the Legacy Forward —
Mrs. Herminder Ohri
Mrs. Herminder Ohri was Shri Robinder Ohri’s life partner for 58 years, sharing his journey through career, moves, family and life’s many milestones.
A zoologist from BITS Pilani, she has worked as a lecturer and is a published writer, painter and designer. She has also been actively involved in community initiatives, including writing books for nonprofit initiatives focused on improving rural literacy.
Jyotsna Ohri
Jyotsna Ohri has been actively involved in nonprofit and community outreach, first alongside her family and now through ROMF.
She studied at Maharani Gayatri Devi School in Jaipur and Daly College, where she completed her Bachelor’s in Business Studies. She has also attended Harvard’s programme on AI, with a special focus on nonprofits.
Her experience spans business startups, educational initiatives and the management of complex family enterprises.
Devashish Ohri
Devashish Ohri is the Chairman of ROMF, which he founded in October 2024 in memory of his father, Shri Robinder Ohri.
Dev has a distinguished 36-year career spanning Civil Services, Consulting, Healthcare and Lifesciences, with experience across the Americas, Europe and Asia in P&L leadership and C-suite roles, including extensive work with private equity.
Today, he focuses on mentoring and investing in startups, advisory and board assignments, while building ROMF’s social impact.
Dev studied Business and Management at Harvard Business School and INSEAD, following his Bachelor’s in History from St. Stephen’s College and Master’s from Delhi University.
